They are very varied, but in a subtle, precise way. Trey follows the chord structure so I'll tab out some of the ways that he plays the riff for each chord in the song. The most important thing is to keep in rhythym with the song. I used the album version as well as some soundboards from '93 to try to get his down. G: Trey Repeats something like this for the intro E-------------------------------- B-----8-------8-------8-------8-- G-7-7--0--7-7--0--7-7--0--7-7--0-...etc. D-------------------------------- A-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- Variations that he also uses for G in the song: E-------------------------------- B-------------------------------- G-4-0-0-0-7-0-0-0-4-0-0-0-7-0-0-0-...etc. D-------------------------------- A-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- B-------------------------------- G-4---------------4-------------- B--0-0-0-5-0-0-0---0-0-0-5-0-0-0--...etc. A-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- C: E-------------------------------- B---------5---------------5------ G-5-0-0-0---0-0-0-5-0-0-0---0-0-0-...etc. D-------------------------------- A-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- D: E-------------------------------- B---------7---------------7------ G-7-0-0-0---0-0-0-7-0-0-0---0-0-0-...etc. D-------------------------------- A-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- B---------5---------------5------ G-7-0-0-0---0-0-0-7-0-0-0---0-0-0-...etc. D-------------------------------- A-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- A: Not sure about this one, but this is true to key so it works. E-------------------------------- B-------------------------------- G---------6---------------6------ D-7-x-x-x---x-x-x-7-x-x-x---x-x-x A-------------------------------- E-------------------------------- These may not be exact, but they are close. It is important to keep in mind that Trey doesn't play it exactly the same way every time anyway. The most important thing is to keep loyal to the key of each of the chords. If you do that, then you can come up with plenty of your own variations. It is very important to keep in rhythm with the song. Thats something i can't really tab out, but its KEY in making this sound good. Hope this helps.
