After the last "don't you see anything that you'd like to try", they hang on D for a few bars then Trey plays this part, and the jam part begins after this.When you get to the A flat part, the open D may sound a little funny at first (since it's not in the Ab scale) but if you listen closely you can definitely hear the repeating open D throughout the entire part.
